One of the common injuries during running or hiking is plantar Fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the connective tissue in the bottom of the foot. Symptoms in acute stage would be a constant pain and pain by weight bearing on the effected foot.
Treatment: Rest, stretching, use ice if it is in an acute stage. Modifying your activity level would be a good idea and finding what the cause of the problem was to begin with.
Usually your massage therapist should be able to identify the cause and they would be able to treat the effected area and give you some correct stretches and strengthening techniques to get you back to your activity daily living.
